TL;DR - They accidentally gave out the Best Picture award to the wrong movie. After three speeches, one of the Producers said, “What? You guys, I’m sorry, no. There’s a mistake.”

And matociquala does an excellent job of summing up why I really couldn’t quite bring myself to enjoy Seth MacFarlane’s hosting stint. I don’t generally enjoy put-down humor all that much. Yay! Skyfall won a BAFTA!

One of the most popular awards of the night went to box-office blockbuster "Skyfall," which won the BAFTA for Outstanding British Film, a first for the 50-year-old Bond franchise.

I always wonder where they get all those little “I am an actor.” speeches that they open the show with every year. Do people volunteer stories and they pick their favorites? Or do they pick the people first, and come up with the stories once they agree to say something?

( You know how I get when I watch awards shows. Random comments on hair, gowns, and who won. )

I got home tonight right at 8:00. Just in time to catch the Golden Globes. I only missed the first minute or two. I totally missed the red carpet special though. *sad face* I had to wait for pictures of the gowns to show up on the Internet. The Oscar Nominations were announced this morning. Lots of movies that have had “buzz” got their expected nominations (Lincoln, Argo, Life of Pi, Les Miserables, Django Unchained, Silver Linings Playbook). And there are a few surprises, as always. I watched the People’s Choice Awards last night. As usual when I watch awards shows, I have some rather stream of consciousness comments. ( They may not make much sense if you weren’t watching the show )
